About Us
Marty, Ezra, Emmett, Alex & Evelyn
We sit down with every client, walk through the job face-to-face, and make sure you know exactly what you're getting before we cut a single piece of timber. That's how it's always been done, and that's how we're keeping it.
Our Story
Townsend Cabinetmaking started back in 1999, when Duncan Townsend set up shop by himself in a small shed with nothing but a set of tools and a determination to build things properly. Word got around, the work kept coming, and Duncan built a reputation across the Pioneer Valley and Mackay region as a bloke who did honest, quality work and stood behind it.
In 2026, the business passed into the hands of Martin Agius- one of Duncan's own apprentices, who learned the trade under him from the ground up. Martin's not out to reinvent what Duncan built. He's here to carry it forward, add his own touch, and keep the standard exactly where it should be.
Old-School Way
Every job is measured and set out by people who've spent years learning how to do it properly. Why? Because it means every job gets the attention it deserves. It means we catch the little things and have the eye to get it perfect because ‘close enough isn’t good enough’. When we show up to install, it fits - first time, every time.
Martin's vision is to keep the old-school service and techniques that Duncan built the business on and add his own modern touch without losing what made it good in the first place. With the introductory of industry-leading CNC software, production increase and tolerances decrease bringing together the finest quality installation we stand by.
Where We Work
Our workshop is located in Walkerston in Mackay, QLD. We service the Pioneer Valley and Mackay region as our home turf, with regular work throughout the Bowen Basin - including mining camps and site accommodation. We've also got a trailer and travel up and down the East Coast for the right job.
Meeting you in Person
We're not about quotes over email and jobs you never see explained properly. We come and meet you, look at the space, listen to what you actually want, and walk you through the job before it starts. No surprises, no guessing games - just a plan you understand and a job that gets done right.
